THINGS TO SEE & DO

A list of some of our favourite places in the area ranging from parks, to cafes and vineyards.

  • Jamworks Gourmet Foods has been creating Queenslands' favourite condiments since 2001. We manufacture a range of over 80 gourmet jams, relishes, chutneys, sauces and pastes, and have recently been awarded Medals in both the Australian Food Awards and the Royal Sydney.

  • Uniquely positioned on the Granite Belt, the most highly elevated wine region in Australia, Balancing Heart Vineyard specialises in small batch varietals and blends, handcrafting one-of-a-kind quality wines with heart.

  • Jersey Girls Cafe is one of the most relaxed restaurants in Stanthorpe. It is a place to chill after you have tasted a selection of fine cheeses. Here you can enjoy their famous, hearty Ploughman's lunch, or if you want to explore the cheeses tasted earlier, a Cheese Platter with a selection of three of your favourite cheeses and three favourite accompaniments is an option.

  • Brass Monkey Brew House have created a broad variety of handcrafted boutique beers for all taste-buds. Enjoy their range of freshly brewed beers on tap and take a few with you for later. Their food menu offers a wide variety of delicious mouth-watering options designed to fill your tummy with happiness. Always using the best quality ingredients with the love of a home cooked meal.

  • Girraween National Park boasts massive granite outcrops, balancing boulders, clear running streams and spectacular wildflowers in spring.

Golden wattles, yellow, red and purple pea flowers, dainty orchids and flannel flowers grow amid forests of red-gum, stringybark and blackbutt. Frogs, lizards and snakes rustle among the leaf litter. Brilliant turquoise parrots, yellow-tufted honeyeaters and superb fairy-wrens splash the granite-strewn countryside with colour, while red-necked wallabies, brush-tailed possums and spiny echidnas weave their way through the wonders of the woodland.

  • A wonderful and convenient new place to eat has just re-opened; The Ballandean Pub.

At Rock Pool Park we have always enjoyed the Ballandean Tavern and when Adam and Sammie announced that they were about to reinvigorate it we were delighted.  After three months of closure for renovations in early 2024 it opened with great fanfare and local community support.

Just 1 minute drive or 10 minutes’ walk from Rock Pools Park, the Ballandean Pub provides great classic country pub hospitality; good food, local wines and a friendly crowd.  Adam & his staff welcome you with enthusiasm. In wintertime the fire warms the bar and the dining area seems packed, so be sure to book. In summer or on a sunny winter day, you can sit out on the veranda or in the beer garden out front.  An old Bedford truck becomes a stage for pop-up live music.
